Fact-Checking Policy
Accuracy is the foundation of credible journalism. This page describes how TerraVerte Digest approaches verification before and after publication.
Before Publication
Every article goes through editorial review before publication. Claims about data, statistics, or research findings are traced to primary sources. We do not accept a secondary source citing a statistic as sufficient verification. Statements about what organisations, governments, or individuals have said or done are verified against primary documentation or official statements.
How We Handle Uncertainty
Where data is genuinely contested or uncertain, we say so in the text rather than presenting a single figure as definitive. We distinguish between what is known, what is estimated, and what is debated. Readers should always be able to tell which category a given claim falls into.
Opinion and Commentary
Opinion pieces, essays, and contributor columns are clearly labelled. The factual claims within opinion pieces are still subject to our accuracy standards, but the analytical conclusions and recommendations are the author’s own.
After Publication
We monitor published articles for accuracy challenges from readers and subject-matter experts. When a credible challenge is raised, we investigate it on its merits. If we confirm an error, we correct it promptly and transparently in accordance with our Editorial Standards.
